About me
I am Danny Yellow, a singer-songwriter from Rotterdam who just released his third self-produced album. I’d describe my music as acoustic pop, with personal lyrics and narrative music. In which I always try to experiment: in writing, in arrangements, and in sound. From time to time, I get compared to Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens and Jamie Cullum - the last mostly for the sound of my voice.
A few years ago, I started a project around Happiness because I wanted to make happier music. Soon, I found out the obvious: Happiness is not a shallow subject. It is sometimes even described as the most important quest in life. During this project I wrote a lot of songs, which I released in two albums. Only Real When Shared is mostly focused on finding happiness in my loved ones. My latest album The Happiness Complex is mostly focused on finding happiness in a world that is far from perfect.
Where in Daily life I find it quite scary to talk about what’s going on, in music I find a safe space. Hidden behind poetry, I’m less afraid to share my stories. Within the slight vagueness of songwriting - where I feel safe to write my thoughts - I hope you’ll find your own truth; a truth I might not even know of.
